FAQ

Everything, answered.

How NOT JUST WEATHER works, what’s free and what’s Pro, and how we handle your data. Can’t find it? Email [email protected].

Getting started

What is NOT JUST WEATHER?

An iPhone app that tells you what to wear for the weather. It reads the forecast for your city, gives you an outfit for the day and scores how well it fits. With Pro, add your own clothes and it styles you from your closet.

When can I get it?

It’s coming soon to the App Store. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you on launch day.

Which iPhones does it work on?

Any iPhone on iOS 27 or later, and iPhone Duo. Features that use Apple Intelligence need an iPhone that supports it.

Is it on iPad or Mac?

It’s an iPhone app. On iPad it opens as an iPhone app, and it isn’t offered on Mac.

Is it on Android?

Not right now. NOT JUST WEATHER is made for iPhone and iPhone Duo, and that’s where all our attention is going. If that ever changes, people on the waitlist will hear first.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without one. Signing in with Apple, Google or your email keeps your closet and settings when you change iPhones or reinstall.

Which languages does it support?

13: English, Arabic, Chinese (Traditional), Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and Turkish. You can set the app’s language in iOS Settings, separate from your iPhone’s.

Weather

Where does the weather come from?

Apple Weather supplies the forecast. Open-Meteo adds air quality, pollen and sea conditions. Severe weather warnings come from Apple Weather and, in Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Colombia, from the national weather service.

What can I see in the forecast?

Temperature and feels-like, wind and gusts, chance of rain, UV and the UV window, pollen, air quality, humidity, dew point, pressure, visibility, sea conditions, sunrise and sunset, and the moon phase with the next full and new moon. Swipe up from Home for the full day.

Are there weather maps and rain radar?

Yes, free. Tap the map button at the top right of Forecast for rain radar, wind, temperature and air quality. Where a country’s weather service offers radar, we show it through our own server, so your IP address never reaches it.

Does it warn me about severe weather?

Yes. Official warnings show on Home and arrive as notifications, from Apple Weather and, in Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Colombia, from the national weather service. Earthquakes show on Home but never as a notification.

Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Set for you: °F in the US, °C everywhere else. Switch it any time in Profile, free.

Can I follow more than one city?

Yes, for free. Your current location stays at the top, and you can add more cities.

What are the animated backgrounds?

Living scenes that change with the weather and the time of day. On Free, your city’s own scene plays automatically (a matching place or the sky where we don’t have your city yet), or you can choose a still sky. With Pro, pick any background. Every background comes as video or a still.

Is the weather free?

Yes, always. The full weather app is part of Free.

Outfits and the outfit score

How does the daily outfit work?

Every day you get an outfit picked for your forecast. On Free it comes from our catalog. With Pro it can come from your own closet, or a mix of both.

What does the outfit score mean?

Your outfit score runs from 0 to 99 and shows how well an outfit suits the forecast. Everyone sees the score for the daily catalog outfit. The short note on the score is free on iPhones with Apple Intelligence and part of Pro on other iPhones. With Pro, you can check any outfit, including looks made from your own clothes.

Does the score only look at the weather right now?

No. It looks at the whole day, so an outfit that’s fine at noon but too light for a cold evening scores lower.

Why did my outfit get this score?

Every score has a short note on the main reason, free on iPhones with Apple Intelligence and part of Pro on others. For the full picture, open Why this look (Pro), which walks through how the outfit handles the day’s weather.

Can I score an outfit I put together myself?

With Pro, yes. Put together an outfit from your closet or our catalog, and you’ll see its score for today’s weather. Like it? Tap I wore this to log it. The daily outfit on Home stays as it is.

Why doesn’t my outfit change during the day?

You get one outfit a day, picked the first time you open the app, so it stays right for the rest of your day. It changes once if you’re in another city, and from 8 pm Home shows tomorrow’s.

What notifications does it send?

Your morning outfit (free), tomorrow’s look in the evening (Pro), weather warnings, and rain and change alerts if you turn them on. You choose the times.

Your closet

Do I need to photograph all my clothes?

No. Start with our catalog, combine catalog items with your own clothes, or switch to outfits made entirely from your closet when you’re ready. Quick Add lets you add catalog basics to your closet in your colors. For unique pieces, upload a photo; AI Catalog Photo can clean it up for a consistent closet image.

How do I add basics without photos?

Use Quick Add. Pick a piece like a black hoodie, set its color and details, and it’s in your closet. Repeat for each color you own.

How do I add my own pieces?

Take or upload a photo. The app reads the type, color and material for you, and you can edit them.

What is AI Catalog Photo?

It turns a photo of your clothes into a clean product-style picture, so your closet looks tidy and consistent. Your original photo is always kept. It’s for Pro subscribers, and your first one is free. After that it’s paid separately: $0.39 for one, and less per photo in bigger batches ($4.99 for 20, $6.99 for 30), up to 50 at a time.

How many clothes do I need before it’s useful?

None. The catalog fills the gaps, so outfits work from day one and get more personal as you add things.

Can I mix catalog pieces with my own clothes?

Yes. Use only the catalog, only your closet, or a mix.

AI Stylist

What can I ask the AI Stylist?

Anything about what to wear from your closet. “What should I wear Saturday?”, “Style me for this restaurant”, “What’s rain-proof in my closet?”, “What haven’t I worn lately?” It also spots gaps, like a color or material you’re missing.

Does it know my clothes and my weather?

Yes. It sees your closet, what you’ve worn lately and the forecast for your city, so its answers fit your actual day.

Can it help me dress for a place?

Yes. Name a restaurant, bar or venue and it takes the place’s dress code into account along with the weather.

What powers the AI Stylist?

Claude, made by Anthropic. On some iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s model writes some answers.

Studio, try-ons and your avatar

What is a try-on?

A picture of an outfit on a figure, so you can see the look before you wear it. You can try on with one of our models or with your own avatar.

What is my avatar?

A figure made from a selfie you take, so try-ons look like you. Making one is optional.

Is the avatar free?

Your first avatar is free on each iPhone, with no account needed. Pro includes one remake a month; other remakes are $1.99.

How much do try-ons cost?

Try-ons are paid for one at a time, separate from Pro, and free users can buy them too. On one of our models: $0.99 standard or $1.99 HD. On your avatar: $1.99 standard or $2.99 HD.

How many pictures does a try-on make?

Three, so you can keep the one you like. Long-press your figure in Studio to see your recent try-ons.

Are the try-on pictures real photos?

No. Try-ons, avatars and some clothing pictures are made with AI. They show how an outfit could look, not a photo of you wearing it.

What happens to my selfie?

It’s deleted as soon as you’ve picked your avatar, and a replaced selfie is deleted too. Your avatar and try-ons are deleted when you withdraw consent (Profile › Account & Privacy › Withdraw Face Consent), when you delete your account, or after 12 months without using your avatar. They’re never used to train AI, never shared with brands and never sold. Details are in our Biometric Data Policy.

Who can make an avatar?

Anyone 18 or older, outside Illinois, Texas and Washington. In Quebec, avatars arrive on 4 January 2027. Everyone can try on with our models.

Why can’t I make an avatar where I live?

Some places have strict laws on face data: Illinois, Texas and Washington, and Quebec until 4 January 2027. Until we can offer avatars there in a way that meets them, they’re off. Try-ons with our models still work.

Calendar

What is Calendar for?

Logging what you wore and planning what you’ll wear. Each day shows its weather, your outfit and its score. Calendar is part of Pro.

Can I plan outfits for a trip?

Yes. Upcoming days show the forecast, so you can plan each outfit ahead and pack for where you’re going.

What are Insights?

As you log outfits, Calendar shows what you actually wear: your most-worn pieces, the ones you’ve forgotten, and what you wear at different temperatures.

Widgets and personalization

What is Widget Lab?

A designer for your own Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. Pick a size, choose the weather details, place them where you want, and set a different look for each kind of sky. It’s part of Pro, or you can buy it on its own for a one-time $4.99, which also unlocks all app icons.

Can I change how the app looks?

Yes. Everyone gets their city’s background (or the sky as a still) and two app icons. With Pro, choose any background and any app icon. All app icons also come with the one-time $4.99 Widget Lab.

Do the regular widgets need Pro?

No. The standard weather widgets are free for everyone. Widget Lab, for designing your own, comes with Pro or as a one-time $4.99 purchase.

Plans and billing

What can I use for free?

Free: the full weather app (forecast, maps, radar, warnings and alerts), a daily outfit from our catalog with its score, the morning outfit notification, every standard widget, try-ons at their price and your first avatar. Pro adds your own closet, the AI Stylist, Calendar, Why this look, Widget Lab and all icons, every background, scores for any outfit, tomorrow’s look in the evening, AI Catalog Photo and one avatar remake a month.

How much is Pro?

$59.99 a year (about $4.99 a month) or $7.99 a month in the US. Prices in other countries are shown in the app in your currency.

How does the free trial work?

Choose yearly Pro and your first 7 days are free. You won’t be charged until the trial ends, and if you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, you pay nothing. Cancel anytime on your iPhone in Settings. Monthly Pro doesn’t include a trial.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple Account. Tap Manage Subscription in Profile, or on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What costs extra on top of Pro?

Try-ons, extra avatar remakes and AI Catalog Photo. You only pay when you use them. Try-ons cost $0.99 to $2.99 each, depending on model or avatar and standard or HD. Pro includes one avatar remake a month; others are $1.99. AI Catalog Photo is $0.39 for one and cheaper per photo in bigger batches, after your first free one.

What happens to my closet if Pro ends?

It’s kept, locked, and comes back when you subscribe again.

How do I get Pro back on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same account, or restore your purchase from Profile.

Privacy and your account

What happens to my photos?

They’re used to run the app for you: to build your closet, style you and make try-ons. They’re never used for ads or shared with brands, and they only help improve our AI if you say yes. See our Privacy Policy.

Do you track my exact location?

No. If you allow location, we round it before asking for the weather, so your exact position is never used. You can also just pick a city.

Is my data sold?

No. We don’t sell or license your data. If you turn on Share anonymous trends with brands in Profile › Account & Privacy, you may later be counted in totals about clothes and weather that we share with brands, never with your pictures, your name or anything that identifies you. Your selfie and avatar have their own stricter rules, set out in our Biometric Data Policy.

Which companies handle my data?

Our Privacy Policy names every service that handles your data and what it does.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Profile › Account & Privacy › Delete Account, and confirm. This deletes your account and the data stored with it, including your pictures. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel your subscription, so cancel it in Settings too. Your free avatar is one per iPhone, so it doesn’t come back.

Can I turn off usage and crash reports?

Yes. Go to Profile and switch off Share Usage and Crash Reports.
